Why I liked this title:
"There was a flash of yellow. Emily was pushed inside the locker -- by a person falling against her or by the force of the boat tipping, she couldn't tell -- and the locker door swung closed behind her."
Emily, 14 years old and native to Boston, Massachusetts, finds herself on this sinking boat in the ocean off of Sumatra. Her parents and uncle have no idea that she is even on the boat. This is a fast-paced tale based on a true story. The story gives many insights into cross-cultural understanding between Americans and Muslims and the desire to survive. I found this book to be a very interesting comparison of these cultures.
