Why I liked this title:
Maddie, an 11-year-old girl at East Tennessee Children’s home, wishes for a place and a family to call home. That is why she is so fascinated by a new girl, Murphy, who is mystifying, smart, beautiful and who seems to take a genuine liking to Maddie. The girls, along with 6-year-old Ricky Ray, and classmates, Donita and Logan, build a fort together. Then they spend every afternoon in the fort making a scrapbook of magazine cut-outs and telling stories from their lives -- both from the past and what they hope for. Maddie finally feels like she has a place to call home... until Murphy betrays her trust.
