Why I liked this title:
Kate Sterling's life has been very different since her mom was killed four years ago by a drunk driver, when Kate was eleven years old. She knows she will never be able to forgive Zeke, a neighbor--she even dreams of running over him when he gets out of prison. This cold, snowy North Dakota winter of 1941 is lasting much too long--Kate longs for spring. The winter seems even colder with the talk of war, and the boys in her class worrying about getting drafted. Then, Zeke earns an early release from prison, and as he heads home on a bus and then on foot, a blizzard begins to move toward Bismark, and Kate has to call upon all of her courage to help her dad and little brother who are stranded in the blizzard, and must face an even bigger challenge when she encounters Zeke with them. What would you do in this situation? You won't be able to put this book down!
