Why I liked this title:

This is the story of a cat, a small boy, and a dragon. In a conversation with the cat, Elmer Elevator divulges his secret desire to fly an airplane. The cat knows a way for Elmer to fly while he is still a boy: to fly on the back of a dragon. One problem, the dragon is being held captive on Wild Island and is forced to ferry lazy animals across the river. Will Elmer rescue the dragon? Read on to find out if Elmer outwits the animals. The illustrations, starting with the cover, are whimsical and charming. Who doesn't like a story with a map to follow? You will like this nonsense tale, a classic Newbery Medal winner.
