Why I liked this title:

Thomas knew that the House of Dies Drear held secrets even before he saw it looming out of the mist, gray and large on a rock ledge. Legends told of murdered fugitive slaves and of the killing of Dies Drear who had made the Ohio house into an Underground Railroad station for fleeing slaves. Thomas's twin brothers scream as they enter the house for the first time because they can feel the evil that lurks in the hidden passageways. Are there really ghosts walking the rooms? Who keeps leaving odd triangles in the house. Thomas and his father must solve the mystery if they are to have any peace in their new home.

A film adaptation is available on DVD .
