Why I liked this title:

Where do we go when we die? This common question is taken for a different spin in this fantasy about a 15-year-old girl, Liz, who dies suddenly when she is struck by a taxicab while riding her bike. Liz finds herself in Elsewhere, an island where all who die now live. Liz learns that the aging process works differently here. Instead of getting older, humans (and animals) grow younger. When they reach infancy, they are sent down the River to be reborn on Earth. Liz is reluctant to accept life on Elsewhere. She spends all of her time at Elsewhere's observation deck where she monitors the lives of the loved ones she left behind. Liz finally accepts her life on Elsewhere and she ceases being obsessed by her former life on Earth. She takes a job, makes new friends, and even falls in love. Regardless of what your beliefs are regarding an afterlife, this is one author's engaging, interesting, speculative novel that will leave its readers well satisfied.

This title is also available on compact disc.
